Don't Be Scared...Prepare!

Being prepared...That was the theme of this year's (the third annual) Information Security Awareness Day event.  I spend about 3 months preparing for it and it was hard work but it was worth it!  These are some of the posters we used to get people interested and get the message across.  I got the scary B-movie theme idea from Indiana University.

We made fliers, bookmarks, web banners, posters, and tip sheets with these images and included information relating to the subjects of protecting your computer from malware and spyware, learning to spot phishing scams, creating secure passwords, protecting your information on wireless networks and warning about the dangers of downloading peer2peer software.  I asked several speakers to present on information security related subjects during break-out sessions and we had over 350 in attendance.  Check out my security website at http://www.secureit.utah.edu/ .  Anyway, it was fun.  I love the creative part of this.

Thought I would share something since I haven't blogged since July.

Love, Me  :)

Lori- So timely as we got this terrible spam sent out on our name yesterday. Bob ran a computer clean up yesterday, but you just feel violated when something goes out in your name that you did not send! Anyway, we will look at the site you have in your blog. Great work, we all need to be reminded of these dangers associated with our security! Hope all is well. Our best to Bill. Take care, Kathi
